Book of the month

I have a lot I could say in this post.  It has been a long time since last writing.  I have now successfully finished two books on my quest to read what amounts to one book a month.  I remember last year I had so much drive to finish one new book every month, now this year I am content to just finish a number and the number I am going to pick for this year is 15.  Last year I read 14, so I figure going up one book is not much of a challenge and if I read more than 15 books, I can be pleasantly surprised.  And so far this year, I have finished two.

The first book I finished this year was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.  Now, I have not read it for at least two or three years, so I think this can be counted as reading a "new" book.  It was kind of new to me.  I have the hardest time remembering details of books.  I can tell you the general outline, but ask me what happened in any specific part of the book and I might be hard pressed to remember sequence and detail.  So I enjoyed the surprises I forgot since the last time.

Last night I did finish a real new book.  It was a called The Troubled Man  by Henning Mankell.  My parents got me hooked on the PBS series of Kurt Wallander, so I decided to try reading the books the series is based on.  I really like them.  This book was very engrossing.  I could not put it down, well not without some strong coaxing on my tired body's part.  It was fast paced, made me think and gave me a nice little twist at the end.  Now I just need to finish the other books I am working on and I think I will be well on my way to number 15.
